Hector Thys

This atmospheric landscape from 1888 depicts an idyllic scene at the edge of a wood, where cattle seek cool water near a farmstead. The work is characterised by a fine balance between the deep green tones of the foliage and the subtle fall of light in the sky. The painting is set in a richly decorated, gold-gilded frame.
