The collection of koopmansfineart.com originated from a deep-rooted fascination with classical European painting. What began as a personal journey of discovery through refined masterpieces has grown into a carefully curated private collection. The focus lies particularly on atmospheric still lifes, interiors and landscapes that bear witness to exceptional craftsmanship and a striking historical character.

We believe that every antique painting is a unique window onto the past, and that it deserves to be treated with respect. For this reason a great deal of time is devoted to historical provenance research, material analysis and the careful conservation of both the canvases and their monumental, hand-gilded frames.

About Me

My name is Merijn Koopmans.

The finest aspect of this passion is the journey of discovery: searching regional auction houses, estate sales and private collections for that one hidden gem. Beneath a yellowed, darkened layer of varnish, or behind a subtle and almost illegible signature, the hand of a classical master is often concealed — such as the highly refined still lifes of Arnoud Wydeveld or the atmospheric river and sea views of Hendrik Hulk.
